\bf{\underline{Answer}}

Yeast can undergo respiration anaerobically amd convert glucose into ethanol.

This process is also known as fermentation

\bf{\underline{Important\:Notes:-}}

• What is respiration?

Answer:- Respiration. is the process in which glucose is oxidised to produce energy.

Respiration is of two types:-

1. Aerobic respiration:-

Aerobic respiration is the respiration which takes place in the presence of oxygen.

2. Anaerobic Respiration:-

Anaerobic Respiration is the respiration which take place in the absence of oxygen.

Anaerobic Respiration is of two types:-

1. Anaerobic Respiration in yeast (also known as fermentation).

2. Anaerobic Respiration in the muscle cells. This mainly occurs when we do a lot of exercise or heavy workout in a day. The requirement of oxygen is more in our body at that time, but the transport of oxygen is limited. So the cells start respirating in the absence of oxygen which leads to the formation of lactic acid.
