let the two numbers be x and y

given that

x + y = 22 -----(1)

x - y = 6 ------ (2)

adding (1) and (2)

2x = 28

x = 28/2

x = 14

substitute value of x in (1)

14 + y = 22

y = 22 - 14

y = 8

the numbers are 14 and 8

Answer:

The required numbers are 14 and 8

Step-by-step explanation:

Let a number to be x and other number to be y where x>y

since , sum of both numbers is 22 and their difference is 6, now according to question ,

x + y = 22..............(1)

and

x-y = 6 ...................(2)

By adding equtions 1 and 2 , we get

(x + y ) + ( x - y) = 22 + 6

2x = 28

therefore , x = 14

now putting x= 14 in eqution ( 1) , we get

14 + y = 22

therefore , y = 22-14 = 8

thus , the number are x= 14 and y = 8
