I cant understand this line from The Letter. He reflected deeply and came to the conclusion that the whole universe is built up of love and that the grief of separation is inescapable.

The line means that Ali realised the general philosophy of life that all relationships in this world survive on the basis of love and that everybody has to face the agony of separation.
