It is a Double displacement reaction. Simply we can say two components exchange ions to give new compounds is called Double replacement.

We know that the coal contain the element hydrogen and carbon, so they are called hydrocarbon.

Combustion of coal in air is not single type of combustion but several type of burning in competition produce one molecule of Carbon and 2 molecule of Oxygen  and water. And also other compounds such as small hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide.

Representation of combustion in equation:

Hydrogen+carbon--->hydrocarbon.

Hydrocarbon+O2---->C02+h20+CO+CH.
