i)Complete the following table that describes what happens when aqueous chlorine
is added to an aqueous metal halide.
(ii) Give the ionic equation for one of the above reactions.

Chlorine will oxidise aqueous iron(II) chloride to form aqueous iron(III) chloride.
() Explain why this is a redox reaction.
(ii) Describe how aqueous sodium hydroxide can be used to show that the oxidation
has taken place.​

  1. Product :- KCl
  2. It will change to yellow in color, Product :- KCl
  3. 2KBr+Cl2-->2KCl+Br2
  4. Bez the ionic state of iron changes from 2 to 3 so it is an oxidizing reaction
  5. On basis of observation we can conclude.

Like in FeCl2 there will be light green ppt

But in FeCl3 there will be dirty dark green ppt this show the ionic change in Iron. Which will help us to know about Oxidizing agent.
