I cried to save the boy or he would slip into the water.

  • To change the narration of a sentence from direct to indirect but the verb must remain in the same form.
  • We must not use any other word other than "cried" and since the verb is "save" which is in present tense, it should be used as it is.
  • Some other examples of changing the narration of a sentence are:
  • He cried, "Get out from the building". The sentence with changed narration will be - He cried to get out of the building.

Answer:

I cried out ,"save the boy,he will slip into the water : Change the narration.

  • I cried out to save the boy or he would slip into the water.

  • For Imperative Sentence : imperative mood of reported speech turns into infinitive mood, so 'to save the boy or he would slip into the water' has been written.
  • For indirect speech : shall and will of direct speech turn into should and would.
  • 'That' linker is not used such these sentences.
  • A full stop is always used after the indirect speech.
