I launched myself forward, trying to spring ahead of the pack. Once I lifted up on the 'GO!', my left foot tripped without initiating a single warning as soon I realized I was lying on the vacant field, looking directly up into the cloudy sky. The powder blue sky began to fade with the raven in my sight and the last thing I recall is the race terminating while me being shifted to the school's infirmary carried by school custodians.
