Answer:

1 is the root of quadratic equation. -1 is not the root of the quadratic equation

Step-by-step explanation:

x = 1

x^{2} +4x-5=0

1^{2} +4(1)-5=0\\ 1+4-5=0\\5-5=0

x = -1

-1^{2} +4(-1)-5=0

1-4-5=0\\1-9=0\\-8\neq 0

Hello mate!

x^2+4x-5=0

for x=1,

1^2+4*1-5=0

(1+4)-5=0

5-5=0

so, 1 is a root of the equation.

for x=(-1),

(-1)^2+4*(-1)-5=0

1+(-4)-5=0

(1-4)-5=0

-8≠0

so, (-1) is not a root of the equation.

hope it helps:-)
