x+47/8=9
x=9-(47 /8)
x=(72-47)/8
x=25 /8
x=3 1/8
3 1/8 is added to 5 7/8 to make 9.

x =9 - 57/8
x = (9x8) - 57/8
x = 72-57 /8
x=15/8
This is the answer..then justification
15 / 8+57/8=72/8
...................=9
hence the proof
