Answer:

  • The ration is angel of incidence and angle of refraction is always constant, this known as snell's law.
  • sin(i)/sin(r) = constant
  • Absolute refraction index is ration of speed of light in vacuum and speed of light in that medium.

Snell's Law and absolute refractive Index

Explanation:

  • The ratio of sine of angle of incidence (i) to the sine of angle of refraction (r) is a constant ,for a light of constant wavelength and a given pair of media i.e.

                          \frac{ Sin i}{Sin r} = constant = \mu

        here,μ is refractive index.

  • In the above figure, A is point of incidence. BA is incident ray. AC if refracted ray. NN  ′  is normal to interface. i is angle of incidence. r is angle of refraction & Snell's law states that

                          \frac{Sin i}{Sin r} = Constant = Refractive Index

  • Absolute refractive index: When the light is going from vacuum to another medium, then the value of refractive index is called the absolute refractive index.
