I. Give reasons for the following.
1. Transpiration helps in ascent of sap.
2. Water column is maintained inside xylem
vessels.
3. Intensity of light increases transpiration rate.
4. Absorption of water from soil by root hair
occurs by osmosis.

transpiration helps in removal excessive amount of water from plant through stomata because here is a force which is known as transpiration pull which pull water upwards from roots

Answer:

Hey buddy here is ur answer..

1)Transpiration in plants creates a vacuum which transmits a message downwards .So water is absorbed by the roots and pulled up.It creates the necessary suction force which helps in the ascent of sap,i.e.,transport of water and minerals to the plant parts.

2)Water column inside the xylem vessels is maintained due to the adhesive and cohesive nature of water molecules,i.e.,their tendency to remain joined and to stick to the cell surface.

3)It is because if there is more light, more photosynthesis will occur which will increase the rate of water being lost by plants, which is in the form of transpiration.

4)Absorption of water by roots from soil occurs by osmosis because the root hairs have cell sap of a concentration higher than the surrounding water so endosmosis will occur and water will be absorbed.

Hope it helps u!!

Take care:):)
