I had a jar of jelly beans that weighed 56 ounces. I added 16 more ounces of jelly beans to the jar. Then I divided the jelly beans evenly into bags that each weighed 8 ounces.

Weight of jar of jellies(before addition)= 56 ounces
Weight of jar of jellies(after addition)=56+16=72 ounces

Weight of each bag in which the jellies were divided evenly= 8 ounces
Number of bags= 72/8=9 bags

Therefore there were 9 bags of jellies.
