English, asked by 7letters22, 4 months ago

I had no bed. I must have perished with cold, but that, the coldest nights, I used to steal a bag which was used for carrying corn to the mill. I would crawl into this bag, and there sleep on the cold, damp, clay floor, with my head in and feet out. My feet have been so cracked with the frost, that the pen with which I am writing might be laid in the gashes. How does this excerpt exemplify a personal narrative?

A. by including important historical events
B. through researched facts about a person’s life
C. through thoughts and reflections from the author
D. by including imaginary, made-up details

The author uses objective narration rather than subjective. The given excerpt exemplifies a personal narrative using (B) through researched facts about a person's life.

Explanation:

  • The given excerpt is written by Frederick Douglas. He explains all the hardships and troubles by excluding information about emotions and feelings.

  • This technique is adopted to reach a wider audience so they can relate to your sufferance.

  • Generally, there are three types of narrative techniques. All of these are widely used throughout English literature
