Given :

The amount of money given to friend = \dfrac{1}{4} th of total

The amount of money spend = \dfrac{1}{4} th of  total

The amount of money that was lost = Rs 50

The amount of money left  = Rs 10

To Find :

The initial amount of money that he have

Solution :

Let The initial amount of = Rs x

The amount of money given to friend = \dfrac{1}{4} th of total

                                                             = \dfrac{1}{4}  × x = Rs \dfrac{x}{4}

The amount of money spend = \dfrac{1}{4} th of  total

                                                =  \dfrac{1}{4}  × x = Rs \dfrac{x}{4}

So,  The amount of money left =  initial amount of money - ( amount of money given to friend + amount of money spend + amount of money that was lost )

Or,  10 = x - ( \dfrac{x}{4}  +  \dfrac{x}{4}  + 50 )

Or,  10 = x -  \dfrac{x}{2}  - 50

Or,  \dfrac{2x - x}{2} = 10 + 50

Or,   \dfrac{x}{2}  = Rs 60

∴   x = 2 × Rs 60

i.e  x = Rs 120

Hence, The initial amount of money that he had is Rs 120  Answer
