Answer: 20 paisa coin Carol had = 18

Solution:

Let us assume that she has 'x' 20 p coin and 'y' 10 paisa coin.

She has three times as many 20p coins as 10p coins so

\begin{gathered}x = 3y \: \: \: eq1 \\ \end{gathered}

Total currency she had 4.20 Rs

As we know that share of 20 p in a rupee is 1/5 th,and 10 paisa coin is 1/10 th

So

\begin{gathered} \frac{x}{5} + \frac{y}{10} = 4.20 \\ \\ 2x + y = 42 \: \: eq2 \\ \end{gathered}

solve eq1 and eq2

\begin{gathered}2(3y) + y = 42 \\ \\ 7y = 42 \\ \\ y = 6 \\ \end{gathered}

so,

\begin{gathered}x = 3 \times 6 \\ \\ x = 18 \\ \end{gathered}

So,Carol has 18 ,20 p coin and 6 ,10 p coin

Hope it helps you.
