let X be the number of marbles therefore as X number of marbles are to be divided by 24 we get eqn 1 as

X/24

according to given information second eqn will be

X+9/24+3=X+9/27 this will be eqn 2

by subtracting eqn 1 and 2 we get

X/24-X+9/27=4

maxheadroom: x=936
maxheadroom: you had 936 marbles initially
