I have a doubt related to math factorisation

can we take any number for taking common in factorisation or we can only take common what is given

for example x2 - 36x - 9x + 324

can I do this 2x ( x - 18 ) ??

Answer:

You can take any number as common but here in this step you have to only 2 because there is no other option other than 2.and another thing while taking 2x as a common factor your answer will be 2x(1-18). Because 2x*1 you get 2x . if you multiply 2x * x - 18, you will get 2x*x as 2x^2 i.e. 2x square and then - 36x
