I have a flask containing 100 ml water, a jug having 1 litre of water
and a bucket having 10 litres of water. I add 10 ml of IM solution
of HCl to all the 3 containers. Comment on the strength and
concentration of the solutions in all the 3 containers.Answer

The correct answer is 0.025 mol / L

Explanation:

  • We have to find the strength and concentration of the solutions that are present in all of the three given containers having IMO solution of HCl

  • Since HCl is 37% and has 12 mol/L so, 1kg x 0.37 and we get 370 grams of HCl.

  • While the atomic mass of HCl is 36.5 g/mol.

  • Now we divide atomic mass with weight and we get 370 g / 36.5 g/mol = 10.137 mol / kg

  • As given 1l is 1.185 kg so, 10.137 x 1.185kg/l =12.0 mol/l

  • Finally we replace values in the given equation as such:  x (12mol HCl) x 12mol/L) / 100ml = 0.025 mol / L
