Answer:

Let a be number of ₹1 coins, b number of ₹2 coins and c number of ₹ 5 coins

Because I have a total of ₹300 in denomination of ₹1 , ₹2 and ₹5

a + 2b + 5c = 300 -,,,,,,,,,,,,,(i)

And because The total number of coins is 160

a + b + c = 160 …………..{ii}

subtracting (ii) from {i}

b + 4c = 140 ……… (iii)

But b = 3c ( As The number of ₹2 coins is 3 times the number of ₹5 coins )

Substituting value of b in (iii)

3c + 4c = 140

7c = 140

c = 20

substituting the value of c in (iii)

b + 4 x 20 = 140

b = 140 - 80 = 60

substituting the values of b and c in (ii)

a + 60 + 20 = 160

a = 80

To verify the answer

1 x 80 + 2 x 60 + 5 x 20 = 80 + 120 + 100 = 300

Answer there are 80 ₹1 cons 60 ₹ 2 coins and 20 ₹ 5 cons
