See, you derived s=1/2 (v+u)×t, 1/2 (v+u) means average velocity, thus
s=average velocity × t; which means we get average velocity= s/t.
That is, av. velocity=total displacement/total time
s=average velocity × t; which means we get average velocity= s/t.
That is, av. velocity=total displacement/total time
