I have doubt in the following method of question. My question is why did 2.82 litre retained in cylinder??? Jump to the last line.
A spherical balloon of 21cm diameter is to be filled up with H2 at NTP from a cylinder containing the gas at 20 atm at 27∘C. The cylinder can hold 2.82 litre of water at NTP . Calculate the number of balloons that can be filled up.
Ans:Volume of one balloon = 3/4πr3 =4851 cm =4.851 litre
Let n balloons be filled; thus, total volume of hydrogen used in filling balloons
=4.851×n litre
Total volume of hydrogen in the cylinder at NTP,
V= 300×20×2.82×273 =51.324 litre
Actual volume of H2 to be transferred to balloons
=51.324−2.82(2.82 litre retained in the cylinder) =48.504 litre
