it States that body tends to stay in it's current state of motion( if it's in rest, it will rest forever or if it's in motion, it will stay in that morion forever) unless compelled by an external force to change it.

The newton's first law of motion is An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
