Let the number of 5 rupee coins be x.

The number of 2 rupees coins will be 2x.

Solve x:

(5)(x) + (2)(2x) = 108

5x + 4x = 108

9x = 108

x = 12

Find the number of each coins:

5 rupees = x = 12

2 rupees = 2(12) = 24

Answer: There are 12 5-rupee coins and 24 2-rupee coins.
