• A chromosome is a bundle of DNA strands super coiled around themselves to form a compact condensed structure in the nucleus.
• The chromatin in the nucleus gets condensed prior to cell division to form compact chromosomes. The two sister chromatids are joined by a central centromere.
• Sine the chromosome is made up of DNA coiled around histones, it does carry genetic material.
