I have to cycle a certain distance in the course of a day. I ride 1/8 of the whole journey before breakfast 2/5 between breakfast and lunch , 3/10 between lunch and tea. What fraction of the journey reamains.? If the whole distance is 80 km. How much do I ride in each interval​

To find left journey we will have to add all fractions and subtract it from the whole.

so let the full journey be 1

= 1 - (33/40)

= 1/1 - 33/40

= 7/40

so the left distance is 7/40

let's find the distance covered in each interval-

distance covered before breakfast-

= 80 * 1/8

= 10 km

distance covered between breakfast and lunch-

= 80 * 3/10

= 32km

distance covered between lunch and tea-

=80 * 3/10

= 24km
