I have to write a synopsis on the topic: 'how floods and cyclones in India are causing ecological disasters.' How should I write it and can natural disasters really cause ecological disaster? I doubt that but it is my assignment so I have to do it anyway. Please help.

Yes, natural disasters can cause ecological disaster

Explanation:

Effects of Flood/Cyclones on the Environment

  • The end of a disaster is always just the beginning. The recovery process continues after the disaster has minimized . In comparison to the billions of dollars in loss and damage incurred by many, environmental consequences are mostly unseen.
  • Storms will, for example, significantly harm the natural ecosystems, destroying the habitat of coastal marine fish , birds, rodents and insects. Pollutants from inundated industrial sites can generate dangerous chemicals and enter untreated & contaminate oceans, & groundwater.
  • The key consequences of cyclones are heavy wind & rain, accompanied with strong intense storm increases when near cyclone landfall & tornadoes. The risk to a cyclone depends primarily on the storm's strength, scale and location. Cyclones kill the canopies of forests & change the landscape by rebuilding and shifting sand dunes along coastal areas and contributing to substantial coastal erosion. Heavy rainfalls in the mountain areas can cause rushing and mudslides
  • Flooding can affect the protection and well-being of wildlife and animals. Significant volumes of water will adversely affect natural ranches and farming ecosystems. Wildlife & biodiversity damage can happen in the areas flooded which decreases the ecosystem's level of biodiversity, food & habitat resources, thus causing long-term consequences for wildlife.
  • Flood waters can hold large sediment volumes and leave rivers with diminishing water flows. Water quality can be impaired and water supply is temporarily impaired when properly sedimentary. Other natural disasters such as wildfires, tornadoes and flooding will totally defoliate trees and cause systemic changes in habitats.

Other Natural Disasters Effect

  • Earthquakes can have a detrimental effect on the atmosphere in several respects. The beginning shock could lead to earthquakes, earth shifts and erosion exposure in the area. Quakes can also churn up ashes, pollen, seeds, and other material and disperse it.
  • When a volcano erupts, a combination of particulate matter and methane emits into the air that can contaminate the environment. Some have a dampening effect, such as sulphur dioxide and ash, since the sun is far from the earth. Sulfur dioxide in the stratosphere, which is the primary source of acid rain, is also turned into sulphuric acid. Other gases like CO2 add to the greenhouse effect, triggering the global warming.
