Learning is a continuous process and the true learner always looks avenues to learn from anybody and everybody. There is no bar on learners age or the age of the teacher. A young child can teach you something which you may have not learnt till now. Similarly, every old and poor man can teach you something very important.
Have you ever heard someone say, “I’m too old to learn”?
Did you believe them? I hope not.
There are many people in their 50’s and 60’s going back to college to earn their degree. At that point in their life they are probably doing it because it is something they want to accomplish. The likelihood of improved earning power is no longer the motivating factor.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be academics.
No matter what your age is you can always start learning something. Like my idol Luise Hay, who started taking dancing lessons at age what? I think she was 70 plus something when she started taking ballroom dancing lessons.
Nowadays we have access to so much information through our computers that it is really easy to learn new stuff.
I started yoga through internet and as time passes I am getting better and better at it..
Recently as I wrote last week I started knitting which has become a passion by now. I actually wanted to take lessons to be able to knit more complicated projects than a scarf but I didn’t know where I could find a knitting course.
A few days ago as I was buying yarn I saw a couple of women sitting around a table knitting. I was told that with the condition of buying your yarn from the store there are two teachers full time teaching how to knit.
I ask, as I did at the beginning, are you ever too old to learn?
I have learned a lot in the last few months. I have become a Pranic Energy Healer, I have learnt yoga and now
I am learning knitting. My brain seems to work even when I am asleep.
I do not care what age you are: EXPAND YOUR MIND. FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS, GO AFTER THE IMPOSSIBLE!
You won’t be sorry.
You will grow, even if you don’t succeed in a particular endeavor. You will try again and you will make it.
Until next week keep cool and healthy!
