Weeds are nothing but unwanted crops that grow along with the main crop. Thus, they compete with the main crop for sunlight, water, nutrients, and space and thus reduce the resources available to them. In this way, they hamper the growth of the main crop.

Three ways to remove weeds from a crop field:

• By hand: Walking the field and pulling out the weeds.

• By mechanical means: Pulling iron through the field that will till up the space between the crop rows and cut/kill the weeds.

• By chemical means: Using a herbicide to kill the weeds.
