Step-by-step explanation:

Let,

  • Amount invested in mining shares ($)= x
  • Amount invested in technology share ($) = 2x

Yearly Earnings of mining shares ($) = 9 % of x

Yearly Earnings of technology share ($) = 10 % of 2x

Yearly income = $ 1450

According to the Question :

⇒ 9 % of x + 10 % of 2x = 1450

⇒ 0.09x + 0.2x = 1450

⇒ 0.29x = 1450

⇒ x = 1450 / 0.29

x = 5000

Amount invested in mining shares ($)= 5000

Amount invested in technology share ($) = 2x

⇒ 2x

⇒ 2 × 5000

10000

Amount invested in technology share ($) = 10000

Therefore,

Amount invested in mining shares $ 5000 and in technology shares $ 10000.
