I just finished my chemistry experiment on how temperature affects voltaic cells. The results were that as temperature increases, voltage decreases. I am having a hard time figuring out why. What is the reason voltaic cells generate less voltage as temperature gets higher?

Explanation:

Lower energy is this required for breaking the bond.In a bond model of a band gap of a semi conductor, reducing the bond energy also reduces the band gap. Thus increase in temperature also decrease the band gap.The open circuit voltage decrease while the temperature increase. I.e. there is inverse relation between temperature and voltage.
