Both assertion and reason are correct and reason correctly explains assertion.

Both male and females mosquitoes live on nector like Butterfly, but when it's time to lay eegs female need special nutrients which she obtained from worm blooded animals, for doing this female mosquito have special organ which are not present in males.

And in doing this it acts as a carrier(vector) for various disease like malaria, zika, dengue etc.

The parasite for these disease are transferred from infected animal to healthy animal, it's a quiet intresting process you must watch it's animation on utube.
