Given :       x + y  = 12  , xy  = 27

To find :  x³ + y³

Solution:

x + y  = 12

Squaring both sides

=> x² + y ²  + 2xy  = 144

subtracting 3xy both sides

=> x² + y²  - xy = 144 - 3xy

=> x² + y²  - xy =  144 - 3(27)

=> x² + y²  - xy =  63

x³ + y³    = (x  + y) ( x² + y²  - xy )

=> x³ + y³    = 12 (63)

=> x³ + y³    = 756
