The number is 22.
Step-by-step explanation:
Given -
- The asked number consists of two digits.
- By adding or multiplying the digits of asked number , we get the same result.
- By subtracting the digits of the number we get zero.
To find -
- The asked number.
Solution -
Let the number be 10x + y.
According to the second statement ,
10x + y = 10xy-------------(1)
Now, according to the third statment ,
10x - y = 0
→ 10x = y (putting in 1)
→ y + y = (y)y
→2y = y²
On dividing both the sides by 'y' , we get ,
2y/y = y²/y
→ 2 = y
or
y = 2 (putting in 1)
→ 10x + 2 = 10x(2)
→ 10x + 2 = 20x
→ 2 = 20x - 10x
→ 2 = 10x
→ 2/10 = x
→ 1/5 = x
or
x = 0.2
Hence , the number is => 10x + y
=> 10(0.2) + 2
=> 20 + 2
=> 22
