AS pollution is one of the biggest problems the world is facing today, it is also affecting our daily lives economically and physically. A polluted environment also leads to diseases that are around us. Yet most people have no awareness of this grave issue at hand.

Many activities can be carried out by both the common citizen and countries to help improve the world's environmental pollution. Some initiatives should be taken to fight this cause.

First, an individual can play his role by proving himself to be a good citizen. We should not exceed the limits defined by the law regarding noise, air and water pollution.

The widespread use of polythene bags should be stopped as they are one of the main causes of pollution; the option of cloth bags is safer.

Garbage should be recycled instead of throwing it away. Dry garbage can be used in construction of roads and wet garbage can be used as urea in our lawns.

Vehicles should be kept in good condition so that they do not become a cause of air pollution. The government should take steps to prevent pollution.

Noise pollution can also be reduced considerably by passing stringent laws of not exceeding the limit. Sewage disposal treatment should have specific laws for even a good sewerage system can also help prevent a number of diseases and germs.

I appeal to every Pakistani to act upon all these remedial actions. If we want to live a healthy and prosperous life, we should first keep our environment and country clean.
