1. By'new black's ready' the speaker mean black mourning dress ready

2. according to mrs Slater, Ben and Elizabeth will have never thought about mourning yet and so she will outshine her sister by wearing mourning dress

3. because grandfather is lying dead and still Victoria goes about seeking pleasure

4. I think mrs Slater is a greedy and dominating woman who don't have family values.
