• The poem 'Ozymandias' is a sonnet by Percy Bysshe Shelley that emphasises on the irony of time.

• Ozymandias was  a proud and powerful ruler,the king of kings.
• He believed that his might and mighty deeds would remain immortal even with the passage of time.
• So on his statue, which bore the reflection of the sneer of his command, he engraved the words,  "My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
• The situational irony however lay in the fact that Time decayed all be it the strong and mighty or the weak  or insignificant.
• Thus the once towering King was now half sunk in the lone and level sands where his colossal statue lay decaying.
