Platinum used to be the catalyst for this reaction; however, as it is susceptible to reacting with arsenic impurities in the sulfur feedstock so Vanadium Oxide (V2O5) is now preferred.

Answer:

Vanadium pentoxide is preferred to platinized asbestos or any other catalyst as it is comparatively cheaper and less easily poisoned or susceptible to impurities

HOPE THAT IT WAS HELPFUL!!!!

MARK IT THE BRAINLIEST IF IT REALLY WAS!!!!
