1) The phenomenon shown in the figure is synapsis .

it is the process during which the genetic information on two different sister chromatids of the chromosome mixes during prophase 1 of meiosis.

2)this phenomenon of synapsis help in recombination and development of a new genetic material from the mixture of two sister chromatids which helps in evolution.

3) the parts labelled are centromere and sister chromatids respectively.

4)the part labelled x is called centromere it's function is two provide the foundation assembly of kinetochore which is a complex protein which helps in formation of spindle apparatus during cell division.
