(i) it is refraction.
(ii) the light must travel from denser medium to rarer medium, the indicent angle should be greater than critical angle.

Hey !!
(i) Working of an optical fibre is based on total internal reflection.
(ii) a) Rays of light have to travel from optically denser medium to optically rarer medium.
(b) Angle of incidence in the denser medium should be greater than critical angle.
