1 Question:

Name the types of blood vessels?

The Three Major Types of Blood Vessels: Arteries, Veins, and Capillaries

What are their functions?

Blood vessels flow blood throughout the body. Arteries transport blood away from the heart. Veins return blood back toward the heart. Capillaries surround body cells and tissues to deliver and absorb oxygen, nutrients, and other substances. The capillaries also connect the branches of arteries and to the branches of veins.

2 Question:

What is reflex action?

A reflex, or reflex action, is an involuntary and nearly instantaneous movement in response to a stimulus.

Example

Two examples of the condition reflex action are: i)The salivation to the sight or smell of the food. ii) Looking left and right while crossing the road.

this is the answer

Explanation:

i) There are 3 types of blood vessels, namely arteries, veins and capillaries.

Arteries:carry oxygenated blood from heart to the rest of body.

Capillaries : exchange of materials(oxygen, nutrients) from blood vessels to tissues.

Veins:carry deoxygenated blood from body parts to heart.

NOTE:- One artery known as pulmonary artery is the only artery which carries deoxygenated blood from heart to lungs.

NOTE:The only vein known as pulmonary vein carries oxygenated blood from lungs to heart.

Arterioles are the divisions of arteries and veinules are the division of veins.

ii) Reflex action, is an involuntary and nearly instantaneous movement in response to a stimulus.A reflex is made possible by neural pathways called reflex arcs which can act on an impulse before that impulse reaches the brain.

Example: when we touch a hot pot(stimuli) an electrical signal passes through the efferent neurons and carry it to the spinal cord. The spinal cord immediately gives the response in the form of an electrical signal to muscles of the hand to remove the hand from the pot.

Same happens when light is concentrated on the eye but the only difference is that the electric signals go from the eye muscles to the spinal cord.
