  • Rainwater harvesting means collecting rainwater for daily uses or for future use.

  • Rainwater harvesting is a technique of saving water for domestic uses like washing clothes or utensils .. or for agriculture ( plants ) .

i) The two main methods of rainwater harvesting :

  • Bamboo dripping irrigation system which is highly followed in eastern part of India specially in Meghalaya.

  • " Tankas " this technique commonly used in the areas of Rajasthan.

  • Roof-top rain water harvesting

  • Kuls or guls method is mostly used in the regions of Western Himalaya.

ii) Two objectives of rain water harvesting :

  • To store rain water for future purposes and when there is a shortage of water than also this stored water can be used by the peoples.

  • To recharge the table present underground

  • To avoid flooding of roads.
