When we hear the word family, the obvious image that comes to the mind is our parents and siblings, right? Indeed, our family is the most precious thing we have. We are loved by our parents since the day we were born, cared for and protected by our brothers and sisters, and pampered by our grandparents no matter how old we grow.  

I am sure many of you will agree that as we grow older, we make our own families outside of our home. We bond with our friends at school, and before we know it we have a special relationship with them. We also have a special place for all our teachers, for we spend more time with them than with our parents while in school.  

Family is not just people related to each other by blood. For me, family consists of a closed group of people who understand me and love me unconditionally. My family consists of my parents who are never judgemental, siblings that never bully me, cousins and grandparents, who teach me to value life and have disciplined goals.  

And along with all these people, my family also consists of my friends and other people who are always there for me rain or shine. They have taught me everything that I know about love and affection, respect and understanding, trusting and confiding, service and gratitude. For me, family is not an important thing, it is everything.
