Best Answer: Read a famous story called, The Whipping Boy. Two ways to treat a story like this. It might be a tradition, even part of the social structure of a society for a royal to do something wrong and have someone else be punished. So you would need to develop a story about someone who actually notices the person taking punishments for him/her. That changes everything. Why? Because the main character won't be able to watch another suffer for their mistakes without doing something about it. Another story idea might happen within a dysfunctional family. The older, adopted teen, might take beatings for two younger brothers to keep them from being beaten by a father who drinks too much. The boy might take the blame for the others to keep them safe. The mother is dead. This backfires when the father decides the older boy is too rebellious and wants to put him in a home for troubled teens. Perhaps the father is lying to a social worker? The boy doesn't tell the social worker what's going on at home, because he's afraid for their family and trusts no one. The boy goes to the home. The father begins beating the other two boys. The social worker, who goes above and beyond the call of duty, suspects something amiss. The older brother finally tells the social worker what is happening at home. Why? The younger brothers try to help their older brother escape. The escape fails. They're terrified of returning home with their father. The social worker gets the boys detained for twenty four hours. She finds nothing to incriminate the father during that time. The younger boys won't talk to her; they're too afraid. The younger boys are returned to the father. That afternoon the social worker successfully walks out of the detention center with the older stepbrother by using a trumped up evaluation request. She might have a husband who helps her do it. The older teen wants to rush home to save the brothers. But the social worker has other plans. She wants to catch the father in the act. They hide in the family's backyard until the father comes home from work and sends the babysitter home. They watch the father through the windows. But he doesn't do anything that would incriminate him. The father yells at the boys, shoves them around a bit, but no more. The social worker and stressed out husband become concerned that nothing will happen. The older brother begs her to wait. The father begins to drink. When he opens the boy's bedroom door a few hours later, a leather belt swinging in his hand, the beating begins...the boy's scream in terror. The father is finally arrested for abuse. The older brother is returned to the home for troubled teens, with a promise from the social worker that his case will be reconsidered and the accusations against him dropped. He and his brothers will become wards of the state. The final scene could involve the social worker turning to her husband and asking him if he'd like to become the proud father of triplets--three adopted sons she has grown to care about need a home. This is a modern day example of Kare Kallu Bhare Mallu. Hope this helps.
