(THE NEED FOR GREEN SPACE...)
The primitive man was afraid of the fury of nature - in the form of Earthquakes, Floods, Lightning, etc. This compelled him to worship nature and respect the latter's prohibition and acceptance. However, today, our self-centered requirements for properties and assets do not pay any heed to the occasional quakes happening every now and then. In other words, we are not bothered by natural calamities; and this is indeed a wrong step towards economic development. Human beings are considered as the smartest and most intelligent beings on the planet, for their ability to take decisions and analyse situations. But, our analysis of the consequences of global warming, greenhouse effect and ozone depletion seem to have too many loopholes in it; or rather, no clue at all. Luckily, community initiatives of localities and schools to partake "Tree Plantation Ceremonies" and so on gives a ray of hope for the future of humanity. With this small step being taken to cover up our mistakes of the past, the simultaneous demolition of forests (just) to construct community-based buildings is a vague excuse. Moreover, it is an utter "unnecessity" to build apartments to accommodate 100 more people.
It is high time that we begin rescuing our planet from the clutches of total destruction. And for that, we need keep aside our greed and self absorbed requirements - lavish homes, affluent parties, expensive accessories, etc. What us more important today is the need to coexist with nature, accompanied by different people. We need to understand the things at stake right now - the greenery, plant-animal-marine lives, our future overall. We cannot be that irresponsible to leave behind a barren Earth for our upcoming generations to suffer on. We gave borrowed these fertile lands and natural resources from our children - and we won't waste them by creating congested, suffocating cities with towering skyscrapers - to create a better world to give it back to them. We must remember, each effort of ours will accumulate to create either a positive or negative result, and it will be us who need to suffer the consequences. Open fertile fallow lands require a more fertile growth and cyclic usage - recycling, reusing, reducing - via agriculture and horticulture. Rather than burdening them with tall buildings and booming populations, why not allow these plots of land to live in harmony?
«P.S.- I've exhausted all my thoughts regarding this topic. I hope I could clear your doubts. Though my word limit is too short, compared to your requirements, I suggest you to elaborate on points I have given here. Thank you Rita.»
