I need an essay on Childhood- Past and Present

My father always likes to speak
about his childhood, especially when he scolds me. He begins by saying
“when I was your age………………..” So one day I asked him about his childhood
days of which he always boasts! He was very happy and excited. My
father lived in a building where there were many children of his age.
They all gathered below the building every day to play. They played till
late in the evenings. He explained about some mischiefs they played on
others. One was during the festival of Holi. An old uncle in their
building didn’t like the kids. On a Holi day when he came out of his
flat the kids threw coloured water balloons from the terrace. When the
uncle looked up he could not see anybody since the kids hid behind the
wall. So he shouted looking at the terrace wall. My father said that
during festivals like Diwali, Christmas, Eid etc. all gathered , cooked
food and ate together. The children’s group also organized skit, games,
songs and dance. After listening to my father’s good old days I was
actually jealous of my father. Because, our days are so boring…. we
don’t play out and we do not have true friends. There are no
get-togethers except for the monthly meetings to discuss about building
matters. Children do not want to play outside. I think technology is
one of the main reasons. We are glued to the T.V monitor or computer
screens or smart phone. We play only computer games. I think we
ourselves are to be blamed. We should take the initiative and start
getting out of the house and enjoying by playing together.
