Answer:
According to my dictionary, Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. When the word "fear" comes to my mind, I think of an emotion that's caused by a bad situation. There are many things in this world that put fear in me.
For most of my life, the dark was something that terrified me. I slept with a nightlight on well beyond an age I'm too embarrassed to admit. There in the dark unknown terrors awaited me. Veiled by the night, my bedroom transformed into a sinister facsimile of itself. Dark silhouettes hid in the shadows, and mysterious noises rang out with no clear explanation.
Of course, it wasn’t a fear of the dark itself; it was a fear of what the darkness hid. Who knew what could be waiting for me in the night? As I grew older and grew out of my fear I realized I had a much deeper fear: the fear of uncertainty. This phobia plagued me not only during the night but also during the day. The ever-present fear struck me ever since I came to America as a scared little boy and stayed with me years later. Even now as I’m talking to you my mind uncertainty besets my thoughts. Am I doing a good enough job? What happens if I don’t do well? Does that judge think I’m not making enough eye contact? What seem to be simple tasks for other people leaves me a nervous wreck and I am often incapacitated by my own doubt. Beyond day to day uncertainty, I’m concerned with my future and the many the pitfalls I may fall into. I have almost no idea of what I want to do with my life after high school let alone for the coming decades. I constantly doubt myself and my abilities.
Consequently, I am left in an endless frenzy of pursuing my grades without knowing the reason why.
