Answer:

the cost price of the motorcycle. CP = 10000 rupees

Step-by-step explanation:

given

selling price of motor cycle  SP = 10600

profit = 6%

CP = ?

let the CP is = 100 then

profit is 6% means profit = 6% of 100 = 6

so SP = CP + profit

Sp should be

SP = 100 + 6 = 106

but in our question SP = 10600 rupees  which represent 106 according our assumption

106 represent = 10600 rupees

1 represent = 10600/106 rupees = 100 rupees

CP 100 should represent = 100 ×100 = 10000 rupees

CP = 10000 rupees

Given:

  1. The selling price of the motor Riffa sold = Rs. 10,600
  2. Gain by selling motor = 6%

To find:

  1. The cost price of the motor

Solution:

This question can be solved by using the concept of profit and loss as follows:

We know that the cost price can be calculated from selling price and gain percent using a formula as follows:

                            C.P = [ 100/ (100 + gain %) x S.P.]

Where,

C.P = Cost price

S.P = Selling price

Thus, the given question can be solved by putting the values given to us in the formula as follows:

  1. The selling price of the motor Riffa sold = Rs. 10,600
  2. Gain by selling motor = 6%

C.P = [ 100/ (100 +6 %) x 10,600]  = 10,000

Thus, the cost price of the motor was Rs 10,000.
