1)
Initial Pressure (Pi) = 4 atm
Final Pressure (Pf)= 1 atm

Work done in isothermal expansion process = -nRT ln(Pf/Pi) = -2 * R * 300K * ln(4/1)
= -600R ln(4)
= 6915.39J

2) Reaction of Methane :

C + 2 H(2) => CH(4)

Heat of Formation of Methane
= Heat of combustion if reactants - Heat of combustion of Products



= (Heat of combustion of C i.e CO2)
+ 2* (Heat of combustion of H2) - Heat of Combustion of Methane



= -393 + (-2*286) -(-890)
=-75KJ/mol.
