the sentry was a good man he had respect towards shivaji but he was a responsible man and as he has given th duty as a sentry and therefore he didnt opened the gate and he followed the rules ans he didn't cared even if he would be killed but for him rules were rules and he didn't opened the gate it can be considered that the sentry man is trustworthy and shivaji can trust him in the future

Hi friend,

We should respect other's values and orders.Same happened one day,o me day Shivaji wants to check if his soldiers respected his orders or not.Then as told in the story the sentry respected the orders and was rewarded by the king.He was awarded because he respected his kings orders and as Shivaji told that in any case they don't have to open the gate,the sentry didn't opened the gate.So because he respected the orders he was rewarded.
