Social Gospel Movement became very popular in the 1800s but lost their significance eventually. The ministers discarded all the ideas of industrialization and concentrated on social and religious doctrines.

The ministers tried to reach the middle class and lower class and encouraged them to follow social doctrines over individual doctrines. They created the labor movement to instigate the idea of religion. Despite all these efforts, the labor movement collapsed and the only big achievement from this was that it prepared the stage for middle class progressivism.
